Remembering Anthony On July 27, 1952 in San Francisco, California, a precious blessing was born to the union of Vancouver Britton and Grace Johnson Britton, a handsome baby boy whom they named Anthony D. Britton, a life destined to inspire and uplift all those he touched. Anthony’s educational foundation began in the schools of San Franciso and he was a proud graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School where he excelled in athletics and was a valuable member of the football team. Later, Anthony relocated to Houston, Texas where he was a devoted member of Greater Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church under the inspiring leadership of Pastor Charles Allen, Jr. Anthony was an visionary entrepreneur and talented caterer who owned Slap Your Mama Restaurant in Channelview, Texas, and provided exceptional catering services for private and public events. On December 12, 2010, in Houston, Texas, Anthony married the love of his life, Patricia Morgan at Greater Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, officaited by Pastor Charles Allen, Jr. marking a union of love and devotion that transcended all boundaries. Anthony, after relocating to Texas City, united with Greater Barbour’s Chapel Baptist Church and was baptized by Pastor Andrew Walker Berry, II beginning a profound Christian journey. As a founding member of New Life Church of Texas, under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Berry, he remained active and a dedicated member of the Men’s Ministry. To know Anthony was to admire his compassionate heart, for he welcomed everyone with open arms and shared his wisdom, inspiring others to follow his lead. In his leisure time, he pursued his passions for cooking, watching westerns and cartoons, and of course, giving his opinion, wanted or unwanted. The bible assures us in Psalms 37:23, the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. On May 31, 2025, Anthony’s steps led him from time into eternity and he peacefully entered into his eternal rest, where his parents, Vancouver and Grace Britton; his son, Edward Britton; brothers, Vancouver Britton, Jr., Bennie Johnson and Darrell Britton; and father-in-law, Freddie Morgan, Jr., eagerly awaited his Heavenly arrival. Left to cherish the treasured memories of his life and celebrate his victory are: his loving and devoted wife, Patricia Britton; his children, Yvonne Britton, Anthony Britton, Jr. (Juanita), Shaun Britton (Angie), Sha’Carla Britton (Derrick), Ronald Bimage (Angie), Lamont Jackson, Lakis Sims and Marte Scott; sisters, Ella Britton, Sandy Britton, Molly Britton, Sharon Britton, Donna Britton; brothers, Danny Britton (Carolyn), Barnell Britton and Arnold Felix (Judy); 18 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Barbara Morgan; brothers-in-law, Freddie Morgan, III and Anthony Morgan; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members, his New Life Church Family and many, many friends who will cherish his memory.
