Celebrating the Life of Benjamin “Big O” Mills “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7 On March 28, 2025, Benjamin “Big O” Mills, 61, of Galveston, Texas, took his final bow at Jennie Sealy Hospital, surrounded by the people who loved him most. And if you knew Big O, you know he wouldn’t want us sitting around crying—he’d want us to laugh, share stories, and make sure we all have a little “juice” in our cups while we do it! Born on February 8, 1964, at UTMB in Galveston, Benjamin was a true island soul through and through. He was a man who enjoyed life to the fullest, always ready with a joke, a big smile, and a cup that somehow always seemed to stay full—no matter the occasion. Whether it was family gatherings, front porch conversations, or just a regular Tuesday, Benjamin believed in good company, good times, and never letting a good moment pass by. Benjamin was blessed with a family who adored him. His sister, Bridget Mills, was not only his sister but his caretaker, confidante, and best friend. She was there for him every step of the way, right up until his last breath. And if you knew Bridget, you know she made sure her brother was well taken care of—whether he liked it or not! He is survived by his devoted brother, Eric Mills & sister Bridget Mills; his loving nieces, Terranicka and Jeanna Mills; and his nephews, Eric Mills Jr. and Wanya Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frankie “Betty”Mills Mother and Benjamin “Bobby” Davis, and his grandparents, who we’re sure welcomed him into Heaven with open arms—and probably a fresh cup of his favorite drink! Big O had a way of making everyone feel like family. His humor, kindness, and “go-with-the-flow” attitude made him a favorite wherever he went. He had a story for every occasion, a laugh that could light up a room, and a way of making even the toughest days a little brighter. The family would like to extend special thanks to Yolanda Mills & Ashley “Niece” Felton for their unwavering support and care during Benjamin’s final days. Your love and kindness meant the world to him, and we are forever grateful. A celebration of Benjamin’s life will be held, where we will honor him the way he would have wanted—with love, laughter, and maybe even a toast to a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Norris Burkley Funeral Home. Benjamin “Big O” Mills may have left this world, but his spirit, his laughter, and his legendary love for life will live on in our hearts forever. Rest easy, Big O—until we meet again.
