With loving remembrance, we celebrate the life and legacy of Billie Kaye Malone McElroy, who peacefully transitioned on June 9, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, deep love, and devoted service to her family and community. Billie Kaye was born on April 2, 1946, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Worthie Maxwell Thompson and Lillie Mae Malone. She was the second of four children, raised in a close-knit family grounded in Christian faith, love, and togetherness. At an early age, Billie gave her life to Christ at Christian Baptist Church, a commitment that guided her throughout her life. She was a proud 1964 graduate of W.O. Boston High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana. There she served as Captain of the Cheerleaders; exemplifying her vibrant personality, leadership, and school spirit. Billie later relocated to Houston, Texas, where she continued her spiritual journey and became a faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church #3., under the leadership of Pastor W.F. Thorn. After the passing of Pastor Thorn, she remained faithful in service under the leadership of Pastor Sanders Charles August. Mack as she was so affectionally known by her church family served faithfully in numerous ministries; including the Deaconess Board, Choir, Finance Committee, Pastor’s Aide, Mission Dept., and Food Committee. Her service to the church reflected her deep faith and servant’s heart. While residing in Houston, Billie met Jimmy Lee McElroy. They became very proud parents of three beautiful daughters: Bridgett Kaye, Bonita Gail, and Belinda Karol. Her daughters were her pride and joy, and she dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting them. Billie’s home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and love. family, neighbors, and friends gathered often, drawn to her kindness, welcoming spirit, and the joy she brought into every room. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel at home. Professionally, Billie worked for many years at Stationary Incorporated and Holloways Office Supply, building a career in Office Management. She later found great joy and purpose in Early Childhood Development Education at Brown Bear Learning Center, where she helped shape the lives of countless children with care and compassion. Billie Kaye will be remembered as a devoted mother, faithful servant of God, and a woman defined by strength, grace, generosity, and unconditional love. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Worthie Thompson and Lillie Mae Malone. Her Husband, Jimmie Lee McElroy, Beloved Daughter, Bonita McElroy, Brother, Glen Thompson, Sr., Nephew, Yancey Gastile Sr, Great-Nephew, Lehman Bacon Jr., and God Mother, Lucille Scott. She Leaves to Cherish Her Precious Memory; Her loving Daughters, Bridgett Kaye Batiste (Jerold) and Belinda McElroy. Grandsons, Derious Batiste and Cameron Batiste, Great Grand Daughters Brooklyn and Brielle Batiste. Her Sisters, Barbara Gastile (Cleveland) and Dianna Guillory; her brothers, Gordon Thompson and Johnny Letman; and her sisters-in-law, Arlene Thompson, Virginia Thompson, and Lorraine Letman. Her beloved Nieces: Karen, Barbara (Keith), Cammie (Roy), Katrina, Jardyn, Lakeshia, Conlisha, Sakima and Joy. Nephews: Michael (Regina), Kenneth (Tiffany), Glenn Thompson Jr., and Gregory. Billie held a very special place in her heart for her Great Nieces and Nephews, who affectionally called her Nanny. She will also be missed by her Godchildren, Gerold Booker, Tiria Gastile, Tamela Butler, a host of cousins, extended relatives, and dear friends. Her life and legacy will be cherished forever.
