A Life To Be Remembered With a radiant smile and an unwavering spirit, Christine Thornton Peterson made her debut into this world on September 28, 1938, in League City, Texas. Born to the loving union of Oscar Thornton and Ivory Hobbs Thornton, Christine was destined for greatness from the very beginning. She embarked on her educational journey in the public schools of Dickinson, Texas graduating from Dunbar High School, and later honed her skills at Franklin Beauty School. At the tender age of 13, Christine made a profound decision to dedicate her life to her faith, and on June 3, 1951, she was baptized at Winfield Chapel Methodist Church in League City. With an unshakable belief in the power of self-improvement, Christine continues to inspire all those around her, spreading love and positivity wherever she goes. With immense joy, Christine embarked on a lifelong journey with her soulmate, Donald Shepherd Peterson, on May 13, 1959. She dedicated more than 20 years of her life to General Telephone Electric Company and over 40 years as a master barber, selflessly serving the Dickinson community. A pillar of faith, Christine was an esteemed member of Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where she played an active role as youth matron and member of the senior choir and missionary society. She found solace in fishing alongside her sisters, puzzle-solving, traveling, and watching sports. On June 2, 2024, Christine left this world to be with the Lord, she is preceded in death by her father, Oscar Thornton, mother, Ivory Thornton, brother, Pierce Thornton, and sisters Mary A Lacy, Leotha Thompson, and Rozelle Thornton. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of her beloved family: her children, Danita Alexander and son-in-law, Ira Alexander, Jr., Donald “Doug” Peterson, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Linh Peterson and Dionne Barnett and son-in-law Charles Barnett; six grandchildren, Ira Alexander, Dominique Palmer, Jordan Sechelski, Shelby Barnett, Haley Barnett, Alegacy Peterson; 8 great-grandchildren, Ty Sechelski, Braylen Palmer, Kameron Williams,Aniyah Journet, Landon Palmer, Rory Sechelski, Hannah Sechelski, Tyree Conner; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and her Greater New Hope Church Family.
