On July 2,1964, Darrell Wayne Maddox was born to the late Charles “Jack” Maddox and Yvonne Maddox in Galveston, TX. Darrell was the fourth child of six. He attended Dickinson Public Schools and graduated in 1982. Darrell graduated from The College of Biblical Studies. He received his Ministry License at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, and Certificate of Ordination from God’s Household of Faith. Darrell had a love for cooking and serving. He entered the food service industry specializing as a high end professional and private chef. Honing his skills and perfecting his craft, he was especially known for his luxurious cuisine and delicious desserts! Darrell was a recognized chef receiving many honors and accolades. He showcased his expertise at numerous restaurants including Bonnie’s Seafood, Shanghai Red and Red Lobster. Darrell believed that family was everything and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at a young age. Darrell met the love his life, Carla; and they were married in 2004. They were blessed with one son, Eric and one fur baby. Together they instilled the love of God within their family. Darrell loved to travel, cook and share his knowledge of God. Darrell and Carla remained faithful to this union until his passing. St. James AME Church was a big part of Darrell’s early life. He was a faithful member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church while serving as Associate Minister under the leadership of Pastor Roderick Cunningham, and The Greater Mount Carmel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Milton Guillory. Darrell remained in service to many Houses of God until becoming ill. In the final days of his life, he became a watch care member under the leadership of Pastor Darold Bailey. Darrell had a deep passion for serving the church and sharing his knowledge of the word of God through teaching. He had a profound interest in always helping the “Church Mothers” in the ministry. Darrell was always proud of their service and he made sure they were always recognized. Darrell was always providing counseling to anyone that he met. He continued to be a blessing and minister through his illness until his passing. He was known for his delicious chocolate pie and apple strudel for family gatherings. On March 8, 2023, after battling a bed ridden illness, Darrell departed this life to be with the Lord. Darrell’s father Charles (Jack) Maddox preceded him in death. Darrell leaves to cherish his wonderful memories: his wife, Carla Maddox; son, Eric Maddox; mother, Yvonne Maddox; brother, Charles Maddox (Stella); sisters, Debra Maddox; Eletha Caesar (Larry); Jacqueline Scott (Paul); brother, Ronald Maddox (Kim), and one fur baby, host of Nephews, Nieces, family and friends.
