Edna Rice

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelations 21:4 Obituary Of Edna Lee Rice On Friday, November 15, 2024, at the blessed age of 89, Edna Lee Rice was called home to be with her Lord and Savior. Born on August 22, 1935 to Littie Heard and Will Johnson, Edna lived a life of faith, service and love and has now entered into eternal rest. Edna was a graduate of Boling Vocational High School and furthered her education at Nursing School. She dedicated 33 years of service as a Hospital Technician Assistant at the University of Texas Medical Branch Hospital (John Sealy), where she was known for her kindness, compassion and unwavering dedication to her work. Edna was a faithful member of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Texas City, Texas where she served under the leadership of Pastor D.N. Bedford, Sr. She was involved in the church, participating in Senior Mission, Circle 3 and Bible Band. Edna found joy in reading the Bible, attending church services and fellowship with her family. She also enjoyed watching football and basketball, traveling with her dear friend Ms. Washington and caring for her beloved pets, Jimmy and Toto, who were like family to her. Edna’s legacy of faith and love lives on through her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Littie Heard and Will Johnson, as well as Maurice Mayberry. She leaves behind her family, including her daughters: Lois Williams (Gwen), Carol Farmer (Weldon), Cherrie Jones (Lee), and son, Roy Rice, her grandchild, Lyndl Jones (Taylor), and her great-granddaughters, Taytum and Trulyn. Edna’s passing leaves a hole in the hearts of those who knew her, but we take comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of her Lord, where there is no pain or sorrow, only peace and joy. Rest in Peace, Edna. You have fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.
