Faye's Journey During the winter month of December, a beautiful baby girl was born. Evelyn Marie Isaac gave birth on December 8,1942 and named her blessing, Eleanor Faye Isaac. The baby received extra love and rearing from her grandparents, Alfred & Gussie Cole and Rose Thomas. With family surrounding her, Eleanor Faye Baldwin fell peacefully asleep on October 29, 2022 from the calling of the Heavenly Father 's voice. Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt & friend will greatly miss her!! Faye was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents. Faye’s early years of acceptance for Christ was at Jerusalem Baptist under leadership of Pastor A. S. Johnson. located in Galveston, Texas. She was involved in youth activities during her teen years and served diligently on Nurses Aide Board during her attendance of Jerusalem Baptist Church. Faye attended Galveston public schools where she excelled academically. Her witty & high-spirited filled personality caused lots of laughter to students; but Eyebrow raising to teachers in Bearcat land. Eleanor Faye graduated with the "Class of 61" in the top percentage of her class. As she decided to venture into a career, Faye graduated in 1965 from UTMB School of Nursing. Her nursing career was a heartfelt passion. The flow of her professionalism and passion shined throughout the departments of Emergency Room Services, Psychiatric and Geriatric Units. Ms. Baldwin was a member of the Black Local Vocational Nursing Association. She let you know boldly the licensure she possessed were kept accurate. Years passed before Faye decided to unite with Greater Mount Gilead Baptist Church family. She did become active in the Mission Board, Nurse's Aide, Kitchen Committee, along with the food bank until medical issues rose against her. Faye knew GOD'S presence was always there during her challenges and struggles. Her endurance allowed her to say "Aww... I'm just going to pray and GOD will make it better " without a hesitant word in her voice. She instilled strong Christian beliefs in her children. "You have no ifs ands or buts about going to church." The value of education was a strong factor in her eyes. Faye was a cheerleader of support for their schooling. She was an avid reader learning about different cultures, the Amish culture being her favorite. The entertaining with family was such an enjoyable spot in her heart, laughing and talking to them. The high point of family entertainment was the Annual Christmas Breakfast not to mention (her specialty was stirring up humorous stuff with her grandkids & neices, nephews). Many visits to the library, traveling, trying new recipes, shopping, a movie goer was her " just Being Faye", She volunteered numerous hours at the Grand Opera House. . Cherished memories are left to her loving & caring daughters: Diane Whitaker Winston, LaMarque, Texas, Alfreda Whitaker Reese (David), Galveston, Texas, Roselyn Moore, Houston, Texas; stepson, Lance McNeil, Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren: Georgette Jones Texas City, Texas, Gretchun Beverly, Lafayette, Louisiana, Frederick Jones Sr. (Rachel), Alvin, Texas and Lonnie Winston Jr., LaMarque, Texas; three great-grandchildren: Keira Jones, Zoe Jones, Frederick Jones Jr.; siblings: sister, Eddie Delores Hare, Dickinson, Texas; brother; Richard Isaac (Melva), Beaumont, Texas; nieces, Joyce Lloyd (Darnell), Lisa Mayfield, LaVerne Beall, Danetta Beall; nephews: Anthony Hare (Katrese), Adrian, Christopher,; her Circle of close knitted friends; Betty Alfred (longtime childhood BFF), Shirley Carter (Mission Sister / friend), Nita Bandura. Other numerous family members and friends who loved her dearly and will greatly miss her.
