Michael (Mike) B. Torres, 53, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024, in a Houston hospital. Born on September 16, 1971, in King City, California, he was the beloved son of Alicia Barrera from Robstown, Texas, and the late Samuel D. Torres. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Yolanda (Yogi) Torres, and his two sons, Justin (Victoria) and Nicholas Torres. He is also cherished by his stepsons, Alex, Eric, and Aaron Castillo. Mike's memory will live on through his mother, Alicia B. Reyes, and his stepfather, Jorge C. Reyes. He is survived by his sisters, Leticia Paree and Patricia Torres, and his brothers, Sam Torres Jr. and Jorge Reyes (Yvette), along with the late Joey Reyes. He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren and is remembered fondly by numerous nieces and nephews. For 20 years, Mike was a dedicated employee at the Corpus Christi Army Depot, starting his career as an aircraft painter and later serving as an engineering technician. He accomplished the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training. His love of Country led him to maintain a dedicated role as an overwatch volunteer on the Texas border, assisting Border Patrol. Mike was a humble protective hero and devoted civil servant. His passion for life extended beyond work; he loved traveling with close friends and enjoying a wide range of music, especially country. Known for his exceptional barbecuing skills, Mike found joy in cooking for family and friends- even grilling on a competitive BBQ team for Buc Days for many years. He loved bringing people together with his delicious meals. With his audacious sense of humor, Mike was the life of every party, known for his infectious laughter and vibrant spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A gathering to celebrate Mike's life will be held at Corpus Christi Funeral Home Chapel, 2409 Baldwin Blvd., Corpus Christi, TX., 78405, on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11:00 am with a Memorial Service at 12pm. A Memorial Mass will follow at 2:00 pm at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 3210 SPID, Corpus Christi, TX., 78415 with a reception to follow at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Kasper Hall at 3:00 pm. Rest in peace, Mike. Loving husband, father, brother, son, friend…. your memory will forever remain in our hearts.
