A special gift to this world, Patrice Annette Bell was born on June 21, 1984, in Galveston, Texas, blessing the lives of her loving parents, Howard S. Barbara A. Bell and Bell Sr. From the moment she arrived, she was embraced by a close‑knit family whose love shaped her into the remarkable woman she became. Patrice was baptized at her family’s church, Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, where her spiritual foundation was planted early and deeply. As a child and teen, she was an active member of the Youthful Stars, giving devoted service through the choir, drill team, and Saturday morning youth group. In recent years, she joyfully lifted her voice again as a member of Minnie’s YAH Adult Choir, singing Zion’s songs with sincerity and praise during worship service. Affectionately known as “Tricey,” a sobriquet lovingly given by her family and friends, she carried the name with pride and warmth. Patrice was educated in the La Marque Independent School District, where she left her hallmark within the walls of La Marque High School. A proud graduate of the Class of 2002, she excelled in track through- out her middle and high school years. Her Cougar pride shined brightly as she served as a dedicated and spirited Color Guard member. Her academic journey continued at Prairie View A&M University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Health. During her collegiate years, she pledged Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., crossing over on April 5, 2004. Patrice embodied the values of her beloved sisterhood: Sisterhood, Respect, Honesty, Accountability, Integrity, Excellence, and Communication, not just in words, but in the way she lived, loved, and served. Professionally, Patrice was a valued Teacher’s Aide with the Texas City Independent School District, where she poured into her students daily. She uplifted them with patience, encouragement, and a genuine desire to see them grow. Her gentle strength and nurturing spirit made her a safe place for many young hearts. Patrice enjoyed quiet moments alone, especially when reading her Bible. She often quoted and stood firmly on her favorite scripture during life’s challenges: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” This verse was not just comforting to her; it was her life anchor. Patrice fought thyroid cancer and then breast cancer with the same courage, grace, and resilience that defined her entire life. Even in her hardest moments, she found ways to encourage others, reminding them to stay grateful, stay hopeful, and stay grounded in faith. Her laughter, bright, full, and contagious could lift any room. Her presence made people feel at ease, supported, and cherished. She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and cousin, and she carried each of these roles with pride and devotion. Her family was her heartbeat. Her children were her greatest joy. Her nieces and nephews adored her. Her siblings leaned on her. Her cousins laughed with her. Her mother and father held her close to their hearts. Her aunts and uncles carried her light forward. Patrice leaves behind a legacy woven with compassion, loyalty, joy, and unwavering faith. She lived out loud, boldly, celebrated life in vibrant color, and loved with her whole heart. Her spirit remains alive in every memory, every story, and every life she touched. On March 21, 2026, God chose to release her from her earthly pain and fulfill her Heavenly expectations. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Alfred Sr., and Clara Shannon; paternal grandparents, Hardy Sr., and Bessie Bell; her son, Aiden Bell; her sister, Denise Bell; her aunt, Odeal Pate; her uncles, Timothy Shannon and Anthony Shannon, Sr.; her first cousins, Leilani Bell, Anthony Shannon, Jr. and Eric Fields. Patrice’s legacy of love will live on in the hearts of her beloved family, her children, Zecharyah Shackelford, Ja'elle Woods, and Jace Woods; her parents, Howard S. Sr., and Barbara A. Bell; siblings, Laquitha Johnson (Morlon), Howard Bell Jr. (Darmika); her nieces, Mckenzie, Janyia, and Samayia; her nephews, Marcus, Malik, Jevon, Jaydn, Marquis, Kaisen, and Korion; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Patrice Annette “Tricey” Bell lived a life that mattered. A life that blessed. A life that will continue to shine through the hearts of all who loved her.
