My LIFE STORY…… “Honey… God has been good to me! I’m so Blessed” I was born on July 5, 1927 in New Waverly, Texas to Bessie Thompson Bowie and Leroy Bowie. All of my brothers are deceased now: Arthur Lee Bowie, Henry Bowie, and Willie Bowie. I confessed Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Albert Young. I served as secretary of Sunday School and Choir. My educational journey began at Willis – Colored School. In the year of 1944, I graduated as Valedictorian. In 1945, my family moved to Galveston, TX where I met and married “The love of my Life”. Mr. Freddie Ferguson, Jr. We celebrated 63 amazing years of marriage “Me and Baby”. Upon moving to Texas City/LaMarque area I became a member of Carter’s Temple CME Church. I later became a member of Greater Bell Zion, under the leadership of Pastor Wiley L. Dunn, Sr. I continued serving under the leadership of Pastor Zephaniah Phillips and our present pastor, Pastor Jerry B. Lee Sr. Here I served as a Deaconess, a member of the Senior Choir, always available to help somebody, sending flowers to the bereaved families, and to those who were sick, counseling with many who needed a listening ear. Upon moving to Houston with my son and family, I became an honorary member of East Macedonia Church, Rev. Frank Celestine, Sr, Pastor. Later I became an honorary member of The Bridge Christian Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Eric Smith, so much love. I am blessed to have ONE Handsome son, “BUTCH” Freddie Frank Ferguson III. A very caring daughter in Love “Honey” Anita Ferguson. I am blessed with 5 loving Grandchildren, 9 affectionate great-grand -children and one great–great-grandson, “He is The Bell of the Ball”, Lyndon Amir. I lived my life knowing that “soon and very soon I would be done with the troubles of this world. My life theme has been “If I could help somebody as I travel along this way then my living shall not be in vain.” I leave a life of precious memories, a legacy of family valves and my love in the hearts of my devoted and beloved Son, Butch, Freddie III, my daughter in love, “Honey”, Anita, who loved me like her own mother; my beautiful grandchildren: Tange (Eric) Smith, “my precious Duddie”, Freddie IV, Donna (Gregory) Johnson, Neka (Corey) Davis, Michael Pridgett; my loving great-grandchildren, LaBrendia, Ellante, Daydrion, Erial, Lejon "D.J.", Donovan, Brianna, Kingsley, Michaela and my one great great-grand-son Lyndon; my brother in love Curtis Lee (Lillian) Ferguson; my sister in love, Claudia Ferguson. I thank God for all of my nieces and nephews, my extended children, relatives and friends who are so special to me. Love to The Greater Bell Zion, East Macedonia and The Bridge Christian Fellowship Church Families. Please don’t worry about me I am healed and set free.
