Doris Richardson Sims Drisdell was born on May 10, 1950, to the union of Sterling Hogan and Carrie Hogan Wilson. At an early age, Doris accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined First Union Baptist Church in Galveston, Texas, under the leadership of Rev. J. I. Jackson. Later in life, she united with Greater Macedonia Baptist Church in Texas City, Texas, under the leadership of Rev. Maxey. Doris attended the historic Central High School in Galveston, Texas, where she was a member of the Class of 1968. While attending Central High School, she met and married Albert Richardson Jr. From this union, they were blessed with two sons, Albert Richardson III and Avery Richardson. Later, Doris married Clarence Sims Jr., and together they were blessed with two sons, Clarence Sims III and Sterlin Sims. She later married Will Drisdell. Doris was known for her warm spirit, kind heart, and outgoing personality. She touched the lives of many through her love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. Her presence brought joy to those around her, and she will be remembered for the love she freely shared. Doris was preceded in death by her grandparents, Louis and Ophelia Hogan, and Rev. Arthur and Amanda Dever; her parents, Sterling Hogan and Carrie Hogan Wilson; her brother, Sterling Hogan Jr.; and her beloved grandson, Tory Sims. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Will Drisdell; her sons, Albert Richardson III of Texas City, Texas; Avery (Megan) Richardson of Japan; Clarence (Debra) Sims III of Frisco, Texas; and Sterlin Sims of Houston, Texas. She also leaves behind one stepson, Bryon Drisdell; two stepdaughters, Freda and Beverly Drisdell; one granddaughter, Stevie (Wade) Lynch of Texas City, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Wade, Sadie, and Skye. She is also survived by her beloved aunts, Lola Hogan of Rosenberg, Texas, and Joyce Sharp of Houston, Texas; her sister, Joyce Brooks of Mansfield, Texas; her nephew, Eric (Tracey) Price; and her niece, Janean (Terry) Thomas. Additionally, Doris leaves behind extended family members Shirley and Johnnie Moore, Kitty Welch, and Lynell York, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory. Though Doris has departed from this earthly life, her legacy of love, faith, strength, and family devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
