Tributes

Our loving and beautiful mother, daughter, auntie, cousin, godmother, goddaughter, godsister and friend, Dorothy Shantal Woodard Hogues peacefully answered the call of her heavenly Father at Memorial Herman Hospital on Sunday, June 21, 2026, after 56 blessed years. She was born to Nathan and Virginia Woodard on February 7, 1970. She accepted Christianity at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev B. J. Hunter at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Hitchcock, TX. Dorothy was educated in Hitchcock Independent School District and graduated in 1988. As a member of the church, she was active in mission and senior choir, where she praised and glorified her Lord and Savior. Dorothy was employed by Aldine ISD for over 15 years followed by work at Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center in Houston Texas. Upon moving back home she was a care giver of Vondra Anderson, and she was also employed by Hitchcock Independent school district until her death. Dorothy was passionate about life, placing her greatest values on God, her children, family, and the coworkers she worked with at her many careers. Unselfish in giving with genuine concerns for others, loving everyone and everyone loved her back, forever meeting a stranger with her big bright smile and contagious laugh. Dorothy met many loved ones in heaven, her father, Nathan C. Woodard; her maternal grandparents, Isaac and Dorothy Sias; her paternal grandparents, Diamond Johns and Alfreeda Woodard; great-grandmother, Hattie McCullough; aunts, Maybelle Johns, Maryland McCullough and Margaret McCullough; uncles, Charles and Donald McCullough, James Johnson, and James Woodard, and a host of cousins. Dorothy leaves behind a legacy with her daughter, Destiny Washington (DJayy), Granddaughter Danielle Washington, Mother Virginia Woodard; siblings, Shirita Jacquo, Rockettee and Nathan Woodard, Christopher Carmona-Woodard (Adrian); nieces, ZaMyria Hunter, Christa, Christi, Chrissi-Mae Carmona-Woodard; nephews, Za’vion Hunter (Mikayla), Christian and Christopher Carmona-Woodard; uncles, Isaac Johnson and William Sias; aunts, Brenda Johns, Faye Durnham, Clara Davis, Elizabeth Johnson (Reginald); Godmother, Margaret Brightmon-March; Godsisters, Dana Brightmon Winston, Michelle Brightmon, Godbrother, Darrell Brightmon; Godchildren: Chelsabrya Bell, Taizayah Williams, Joshua George, Morrian Sias; bonus daughters: Comiesha Towers, Serina Randolph, Kenyelle Carter, Tieshma Johnson; devoted friends, Melody Collins, Carol Bundage, Tarsha Williams, Terri Little, Johrdolene Dotson; and a host of cousins and friends.
