Marjorie Marie Aldridge was born June 6, 1934 in Wharton, Texas, to Kirby McClintock and Jewel Allen, marking the inception of a melodious journey. Marjorie’s determination shone bright through Wharton County’s public schools and with a proud 1950 graduation from T. L. Pink High School. She confidently advanced her culinary skills at New York Culinary School, graduating as a Chief Cook. At a young age with baptism at New Prosperity Baptist Church in Sorrell, this began a lifelong journey of faith. The family’s move to Texas City in 1972 marked a new chapter in life. Her passion for cooking flourished at Lykes Brothers Steamship Company in New York and Richmond State School, Richmond, Texas. Embracing her Christian journey in Texas City, she found a spiritual home at Mt. Paran Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev. E. J. Johnson, also serving under the Rev. Dr. W. W. Jackson, Jr. and later united with New Macedonia Baptist Church in Hitchcock under the late Rev. Marshall Kimble, Sr., continuing under the present pastor, Rev. L. J. Kimble, and was a member of the Mission. Marjorie’s musical journey began at a young age in Wharton, where she joyfully shared her God-given piano talents with First Baptist Church, Glen Flora, Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Glen Flora and St. James Baptist Church, Wharton. After relocating to Texas City, she selflessly served as a musician at New Macedonia Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Mt. Paran Missionary Baptist Church, Little Rock Baptist Church, Straightway Baptist Church, True Faith Baptist Church, St. Luke Baptist Church, Neighborhood Baptist Church and wherever needed, inspiring others as her musical talent lifted spirits and was dedicated to praising God. She was also a former member of the Heroines of Jericho and had been inducted in the Galveston County Sacred Music Hall of Fame. Marjorie’s heart was a sanctuary of love, spreading warmth through her captivating smile that illuminated everyone’s lives she met. With a beautiful spirit, she turned strangers into friends and spread love and kindness everywhere. Her love for family and friends inspired many, and her presence was a precious gift to all. Monday, November 11, 2024, Marjorie entered heavenly bliss and joined the Heavenly Choir in divine melodies. Those who await her arrival are her father, Kirby McClintock; mother, Jewel Allen Tryals; children, Clarence Aldridge, Danny Aldridge and Rev. Roland Aldridge; and brother, James Allen. Left to celebrate her legacy are her devoted children: Ronald Aldridge, Marvin Aldridge and wife, Vida Aldridge, Alice Aldridge, Christopher Aldridge, Jacqueline Aldridge Brown and Gregory Aldridge; sisters, Carol McClintock Hicks and Anne Revis; brother, Paul McClintock; grandchildren, D’vette, Marjorie, Marlo, Desiree, Charlene, Sakeena, Roneshia, Tanji, Antonio, Darnell and Cherrelle; 6 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Gail Aldridge; nieces, nephews, family members, and a multitude of dear friends.
